Cookie Policy

The short version

DayCents sets analytics cookies so we can see which pages and tools people actually use. We set no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking, and we have turned off the Google Analytics features that would build an advertising profile. Every cookie is listed below by name.

Cookies we set

• _ga — Google Analytics. Distinguishes one browser from another so repeat visits are not counted as new people. Expires after 2 years.
• _ga_<container-id> — Google Analytics. Keeps session state so a visit is measured as one session rather than many. Expires after 2 years.

Both are first-party cookies used only for aggregate measurement. Google Signals and ad personalization are disabled on our property, so this data is not used for advertising audiences or remarketing.

Other things stored in your browser

• Theme preference(light/dark) — kept in your browser's local storage so the site remembers your choice. It never leaves your device.
• Calculator inputs in the page URL — when you copy a result link, your inputs are encoded in that URL so the link reproduces your scenario. Nothing is stored server-side.
• Scenarios you save— if you name and save a calculation, the inputs and the name are kept in your browser's local storage so you can reopen them later. There is no account and nothing is transmitted: these never reach our servers, we cannot read them, and clearing your browser data deletes them permanently. You can also delete any of them from the calculator page itself.
• Staff sign-in cookie — a session cookie used only by our editors to access the content management system. Regular visitors never receive it.

If you're in the EU or UK

Analytics is switched off by defaultfor visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. Nothing is stored in your browser until you press "Allow" on the banner, and until then Google Analytics receives only anonymous, cookieless pings. Press "Decline" and it stays off — the banner does not reappear on every page, and no calculator behaves differently.

This is enforced by Google Consent Mode with a region rule, not just by the banner, so the protection holds even if the banner fails to load.

How to refuse them

Blocking cookies in your browser settings, using private browsing, or installing a tracker blocker or Google's Analytics opt-out add-on all prevent these cookies from being set. Nothing on DayCents depends on them — every calculator works identically either way.

If this ever changes

Advertising is on our roadmap and is not live today. If we add cookies that require consent under the law that applies to you, we will update this page first, list each cookie by name and purpose, and show consent controls before anything is set. See also our privacy policy.
