Cosigner
A cosigner is someone who signs a loan alongside the borrower and becomes equally responsible for repaying it. Lenders accept a cosigner with strong credit to approve a borrower who couldn't qualify alone — common on student and first-time auto loans.
Cosigning is a serious commitment: the debt appears on the cosigner's credit report, missed payments hurt their score, and they're on the hook for the full balance if the borrower stops paying. Never cosign money you couldn't afford to repay yourself.
